HACKATHON- Problem Statements

SDG1: Zero Hunger

PS1: AI-Powered Insights for Strengthening Food Assistance Programs

Problem Statement:
Despite various food aid programs in Tamil Nadu, many vulnerable communities remain underserved due to
gaps in identifying those in need, inefficient program outreach, and lack of real-time impact tracking.
Traditional methods struggle to assess whether food assistance reaches the right people at the right time.

PS2: Digital Platforms for Farmer-to-Consumer Sales

Problem Statement:
Farmers often face difficulties selling their produce directly to consumers, resulting in lower income and
food prices. Develop a digital platform or marketplace that connects farmers in Tamil Nadu directly with
consumers, ensuring fair prices for both parties. The platform should also offer transparency, reducing
middlemen and increasing the farmer's income.

PS3: Decentralized Food Storage and Preservation Solutions

Problem Statement:
Food spoilage due to inadequate storage facilities is a major issue in rural Tamil Nadu. Design an
affordable, decentralized food storage and preservation system that can be deployed at the household or
community level. Your solution should help reduce food loss post-harvest and ensure food security for
low-income populations.

SDG2: Climate Change

PS1: Plastic Waste Management

Problem Statement: Addressing the widespread plastic pollution on the outskirts of cities or villages
requires a multi-pronged approach involving community engagement, government policies, education, and
sustainable waste management. It is necessary to suggest a tracking system that has an integrated
mechanism for sorting plastic trash, since this is a straightforward and cost-effective technique to
categorize and monitor plastic garbage. Following the sorting process, the tracking system then tells the
server of the total amount of plastic garbage produced by each home. Also homes that give out more
plastic should trigger an alarm by sending a text message to nearby mobile devices

PS2: AI-IoT System for Automated Drainage Monitoring

Problem Statement: How might we implement an automated solid waste management system to detect when
drainage in a street remains uncleaned beyond a threshold period and promptly alert the district
administration? This solution could utilize IoT sensors, AI-driven monitoring, or real-time data analytics to
ensure timely intervention, prevent blockages, and maintain hygiene standards in the community

PS3: Water Conservation and Management Solutions for Rural Areas

Problem Statement: Water scarcity is a growing issue in Tamil Nadu, especially in rural areas suffering
from unpredictable monsoons. Design an affordable, scalable solution that helps farmers and rural
households monitor, conserve, and efficiently manage their water resources, using technologies like IoT
sensors, rainwater harvesting, or AI-driven irrigation systems.

SDG3: Quality Education

PS1: Edu tech or skill development

Problem Statement: How might we develop an easy to use tool that combines psychometric analysis and
activity based assessments to provide personalized career guidance for school children.

PS2: User-Friendly Mobile Learning and Technology

Problem Statement: Develop mobile learning solutions that enable teachers and students to access
educational resources anytime, anywhere. These solutions should support various learning needs,
including literacy and numerical training, and provide interactive tutoring experiences. The platform
should be intuitive, accessible across different devices, and designed to enhance engagement and
personalized learning.

PS3: Gamifying Education

Problem Statement: Introduce gamification in education to teach basic linguistic and arithmetic skills to
children of rag pickers (Class 1-5). The approach should incorporate interactive storytelling, rewards,
challenges, and engaging activities to make learning enjoyable and effective. By transforming education
into a game-like experience, this initiative aims to enhance motivation, retention, and accessibility for
underprivileged children, fostering a strong foundation for their future learning
